藻胆蛋白[包括B-藻红蛋白(B-PE),R-藻红蛋白(R-PE)和别藻蓝蛋白(APC)]是用于生物学检测的超灵敏荧光染料。 它们比传统的有机荧光团灵敏度高100倍。 即使在诸如流式细胞术和免疫测定的实际应用中,藻胆蛋白缀合的抗体的灵敏度通常远大于相应的基于有机分子的缀合物的灵敏度。 Phycobiliproteins是最亮的荧光标签,具有多个位点,可与许多生物和合成材料形成稳定的结合。

 

  • 藻红蛋白(B-PE)具有三个吸收带,在545nm处具有最大吸收。 B-PE的亚基结构类似于R-PE,但亚基的发色团含量不同,导致吸收峰的相对强度不同:α和β亚基仅含有PEB,而γ亚基含有PEB和PUB。 B-PE存在于蓝细菌和红藻中。 B-PE的强烈粉红色和橙色荧光几乎与肉眼无法区分的R-PE。别藻蓝蛋白在主要的藻胆蛋白中是最不稳定的,在低浓度下易于解离,包括进行某些测定的浓度。 出于这个原因,许多研究人员更喜欢使用在α和β亚基之间化学交联的CL-APC,并且比APC更稳定。
